Changes After Its Construction:
  • “Rifai Tekke” was established next to the mosque by Sheikh Mustafa Fadi Efendi in
    1850.
  • It underwent extensive repairs in 1956 and 1975 and took its current form.
  • During the repairs, the interior was surrounded by one-meter-high wood paneling.
- Prominent features
  • Its current structure has a roof covered with tiles and has eaves.
  • There are two windows on each wall of the mihrab and narthex, and three windows on
    each of the left and right walls.
  • The ceiling is wooden and slatted.
  • Its minbar is wooden and its mihrab is hollow.
  • The upper gallery rests on two concrete pillars and its railings are concrete.
  • In the upper part of the mihrab, there is a small section that is probably not repaired or
    rebuilt and covered with wood and contains a section from the 150th verse of the Surah
    al-Baqara: “From wherever you set out, turn your face towards the Sacred Mosque, and
    wherever you are, turn your face towards it”.
  • There are graves in its cemetery.
  • The graves of the founder Saraç İshak and the Rifai Sheikh Mehmed Fazlı Efendi are in
    this cemetery.
  • The corners of the gravestones are in the shape of a twisted sandglass. On both sides of
    the headstone there are slightly deep mihrabs, each containing four lines of inscription.
    The surroundings are decorated with Rumi reliefs.
  • There is a single line date on the outer surface of the footstone.
