- Changes the building has undergone since its construction
The mosque was built in the 18th century by the Grand Admiral Cezayirli Gazi Hasan Pasha.
Over time, it was rebuilt in reinforced concrete, losing its original architecture in the process.
A restoration work was carried out in 2021. During this process, structural reinforcement, lead and zinc works on the roof, woodwork and coating repair, fountain repair and hand-drawn gold leaf works were completed.
- Prominent features of the mosque
The mosque was built on a square plan and has a single minaret.
The first two floors of the four-story building are used as a mosque, while the other two floors are used as lodgings.
The interior contains the most beautiful examples of Baroque hand-drawn art of the period and calligraphy by the calligraphers Ömer Vasfi Effendi and Osman Hilmi Effendi.
The mosque was built with masonry and wood construction, and the hand-drawn decorations in the Harim section are particularly striking.
Inside the mosque is a coffin dating back to the 15th century, which shows that the structure has a historical depth.
