- Changes the building has undergone since its construction
  • It was closed due to the law dated 15 November 1935 (a law on the classification of mosques) and was used as the reading room and storage of the Istanbul University Library.
  • The mosque was reopened for worship on March 27, 1987.
  • It was damaged in the Gölcük earthquake on 17 August 1999 and was restored by the Directorate General of Foundations and reopened for worship in 2006.
- Prominent features of the mosque
  • It is a rectangular building built with a mixed technique using cut stone and brick. Its roof was initially covered with lead, but was later covered with tiles.
  • Its minaret is made of cut stone.
  • The surrounding garden wall with windows is made of cut stone and brick; there is a fountain with five windows in the corner.
  • There is a graveyard in front of the qibla wall, which was reserved for the tomb of Ibrahim Pasha, yet he could not be buried here because he died in Crete.
