Yassıören Mosque
Changes After Its Construction:
- Two rooms were added to the mosque in 1873-1874.
- A gasilhane (Islamic washing place for the deceased) was added in 2014.
- It was restored by Arnavutköy Municipality without damaging the historical texture.
- After the restoration and conservation works were completed, it was reopened for worship.
Prominent Features:
- The building is an example of the classical Ottoman architectural style.
- It is registered as “Protection Group 1” by the Istanbul Cultural and Natural Heritage Protection Board Number I.
- It is one of the significant religious buildings of the region with its historical and cultural importance.
- Yassıören Mosque was built during the reign of Sultan Mahmud II and is an important structure that has survived to the present day with various additions.
