Soğanağa Mosque
Changes After Its Construction:
- It was converted into a mosque by adding a minbar between 1504 and 1514.
- Burned in 1911, rebuilt in 1912.
- It was severely damaged by a fire in 1991 and was rebuilt in 1992.
- The mosque, which fell into disrepair over time, was renovated again in 1997.
Prominent Features:
- Must have been built before 1504 because it was registered as a masjid at that time, but its name is mentioned in records as a mosque in 1514.
- The walls up to the middle of the windows are covered with tiles, just like the mihrab.
- Its ceiling, minbar and preacher’s pulpit are made of wood.
- The upper hall is accessed via a wooden staircase.
- The ceiling and upper parts of the walls are plastered with cement.
- The roof is covered with tiles.
- It has a small courtyard.
- The single-balcony minaret is located on the right side of the mosque.
