İranlılar Mosque
Changes After Its Construction:
- In addition to the structure, the gas station located under the mosque was built by Cüneyd Ali in 1857
- It was rebuilt in 1921 with the help of Iranians in Istanbul
- The building burned down in the 1930s but was later rebuilt in its current form
- And during this period, tile panels brought from Iran decorated the mihrab of the mosque.
Prominent Features:
- It has no minaret
- It attracts attention with its wooden minbar and portico carried by four marble columns with diamond-shaped capitals
- The mosque was used as a funeral mosque because of the Iranians’ cemetery next to it
- It is not open for regular worship except during the months of Ramadan and Muharram
- It is also known as “Seyyid Ahmet Deresi Mosque”
- There are fountains and inscriptions from different dates on its walls, one of which is the Hacılar Fountain, built in 1903 by two Iranians named Hacı Mehmet Nabi and Hacı Riza
- And the washing station under the mosque was built in 1857 and the inscription about it is located next to the entrance door.
