Şehzadegan Tomb

Audio Narration:

Persons in the Tomb:

Hatice Sultan

Birth/Death: 15th century – 16th century
Title: Sultan
About: Hatice Sultan was the daughter of Sultan Selim I (Yavuz Sultan Selim) and Ayşe Hafsa Sultan. She was the sister of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent (Kanuni Sultan Süleyman).  Around 1509, she married Damat İskender Paşa, but became a widow after his execution. Though she is traditionally believed to have later married Grand Vizier Pargalı Ibrahim Paşa, modern historians argue there is no reliable evidence for this marriage. Some sources suggest Ibrahim Paşa was married to a woman named Muhsine Hatun instead. Hatice Sultan's life and marriages remain debated topics in Ottoman historiography.
