About the Person:
  • Abdülfettah Bağdadi el-Akri was born in 1778 in the town of Akra, northeast of Mosul, and is a great scholar and mystic who has deepened in religious sciences. He studied the sciences of tafsir, hadith and fiqh in Baghdad from a young age; then, he became a follower of Mevlana Halid-I Bağdadi and reached high degrees in sufism.
  • His teacher, Mevlana Halid, gave him the most difficult tasks and sent him to Istanbul on foot twice. Due to his loyalty and patience, he became one of the leading representatives of the order.
  • He settled in Istanbul in 1825 and trained many disciples there. Especially in his lodge in Üsküdar, he gained the loyalty of a large circle of state officials, pashas and scholars.
  • In his last years, he lived with the desire to reunite with his teacher and died on June 24, 1864.
