After the building was purchased, it was converted into a school building by Avedis Pekmezyan and Sarkis Pekmezyan.
The construction of the orphanage/school building was completed in 1913; education and training began on 7 September 1913.
The Istanbul No. I Regional Conservation Board for Cultural and Natural Assets registered the building as a cultural asset to be protected by the decision dated 21 February 1995 and numbered 6375.
Prominent Features:
The campus has also been referred to by the name Karagözyan Armenian Orphanage.
The property is registered in the title deed with the status of “Masonry Orphanage Building with Garden.”
The construction of the building as a hospital and its conversion into an orphanage/school function in a short period is the main element determining the early 20th-century urban-institutional transformation character of the campus.
