The building was purchased from Ali Şefik Pasha by Esat Toptani Pasha.
After the death of Esat Toptani Pasha, the building remained in the ownership of Fatma Şadiye Toptani.
In 1949, the building was donated as a recreation facility for teachers; in the following period, it was used with the function of a recreation facility.
From 1992 onward, the building was used as a teachers’ house.
In 2013, the Regional Conservation Board for Cultural Heritage No. 5 of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism approved the restoration project of the building.
The building and its garden were closed in 2014 on the grounds of renewal.
The building was transferred to the Sultan Selim Han-ı Kadim Foundation on 29 January 2020.
