Changes After Construction:
It was commissioned by Süleyman Sami Bey, the Governor of Istanbul at the time.
The building, reflecting the characteristics of Ottoman architecture, underwent extensive restoration in 2004.
Prominent Features:
The school, which began its educational activities as Karagümrük 27th Primary School, currently operates under the name Akşemsettin Primary School.
The exterior façade is covered with tile decorations and features a bay window arrangement characteristic of Ottoman architecture.
Süleyman Sami Kepenek, known as the governor who initiated school establishment in Istanbul, served between 1924 and 1927.
Among the school’s alumni is the renowned artist Türkan Şoray.
