The building witnessed different public uses other than its educational function after the 19th century; it was used for mukhtar’s office and primary school functions.
The building has been utilized as a public library since 1969.
Following its use as a library, the building remained closed for a period.

The verse inscription above the entrance gives the name of the founder and the date 1 Dhu al-Qi’dah 1285 / 13 February 1869.
