Changes After Construction:
  • In 1833, a repair process was initiated for the roof, walls, and inner door eaves of the building; upon application, a survey and measurement were carried out.
  • In the same survey, it was recorded that the tiled porch, the two clergy rooms on the eastern side, and the walls surrounding the courtyard were also in need of repair.
  • In 1838, the same church in the Kuruçeşme/Sarrafburnu area was surveyed again, and permission for repair was granted.
Prominent Features:
  • The church belongs to the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Istanbul.
  • The building is also known as the “Ioannes Prodromos Church.”
  • The survey record dated 1833 describes the tiled porch associated with the place of worship and the two clergy rooms on the eastern side as parts of the building complex.
  • In official correspondence dated 1864, the name of the church is mentioned directly within a description referring to the “patriarchate and church” nearby and on the street; this record shows that the building was situated along the neighborhood’s daily circulation route.
