In 1833, a repair process was initiated for the roof, walls, and inner door eaves of the building; upon application, a survey and measurement were carried out.
In the same survey, it was recorded that the tiled porch, the two clergy rooms on the eastern side, and the walls surrounding the courtyard were also in need of repair.
In 1838, the same church in the Kuruçeşme/Sarrafburnu area was surveyed again, and permission for repair was granted.
Prominent Features:
The church belongs to the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Istanbul.
The building is also known as the “Ioannes Prodromos Church.”
The survey record dated 1833 describes the tiled porch associated with the place of worship and the two clergy rooms on the eastern side as parts of the building complex.
In official correspondence dated 1864, the name of the church is mentioned directly within a description referring to the “patriarchate and church” nearby and on the street; this record shows that the building was situated along the neighborhood’s daily circulation route.
