Changes After Construction:
  • The church underwent repairs in 1845.
  • In 1846, the Naregyan School was opened in the courtyard; beside the school, a building was later constructed and used as an orphanage.
  • The building used as an orphanage was converted into a dispensary in 1897.
  • The building underwent a major repair and restoration in 1989.
  • The last repair of the building was completed in 2000, and the church was reopened for worship.
Prominent Features:
  • The church belongs to the Armenian Patriarchate of Turkey.
  • The building is also known as the Church of the Holy Trinity.
  • It has been stated that the church already existed in the 16th century and that the purchase of land was recorded through a manuscript dated 1503 and a deed bearing the sultan’s seal.
  • The church was consecrated in 1807 under the name “Amenasurp Yerrortutyun.”
  • The church and its complex covered an area of approximately 1,000 m².
  • The paintings in the interior bear the signature of the painter Hacı Mıgırdiç Bıçagyan.
  • The church has an arched ceiling in the Greco-Roman basilical style; the interior reflects the Corinthian style.
  • Within the complex are buried Catholicos Hagop Çuğayetsi (1598–1680) and Patriarch İknadios Kakmacıyan (1827–1869).
