Changes After Construction:
  • After the Jesuits left Turkey, the building and its plot were transferred to the Treasury.
  • From the 1970s onward, the Syriac Catholic community that came to Istanbul began to use the building for worship after repairing the structure, which was in a ruined condition at the time.
  • In 1997, the building was allocated free of charge to the relevant foundation for 99 years; the process later turned into a long-term legal dispute.
  • In 2018, under the decision that expanded the practice of free-of-charge allocation, the building was allocated free of charge for 49 years.
