Changes after its construction
It was burned down in the great Üsküdar fire of 1771 and was subsequently rebuilt.
It was damaged again in the Açıktürbe fire in 1796 and was rebuilt once again.
Over time, the area construction increased, and the mosque was left among apartment buildings.
Until 2008, the neighborhood where the mosque is located was known as the AhmetÇelebi Neighborhood
Prominent features
Its walls are made of masonry, its roof and minaret are made of wood, and its single- balcony wooden minaret is architecturally striking.
Its founder, Ahmet Çelebi, is buried in front of the mihrab.
It is a small-scale, simple Ottoman period mosque, and has largely preserved its originalidentity because of fires and repairs.
It is said that during the Turkish War of Independence, it became a secret gathering point for patriots in Üsküdar and that it served as an intermediary for the transfer of soldiers and officers to Anatolia after the Isha prayers.
