Changes after its construction
In 1832, the aging structure was completely rebuilt by Sultan Mahmud II.
In 1953, it was flooded due to heavy rain and its walls, floor and mihrab were damaged. It was repaired under the leadership of Beşir Vaner from Beylerbeyi locals.
In 1962, the interior of the mosque was thoroughly restored and painted by Hacı Ömer Özuzun, a resident of Beylerbeyi.
In 1966, the same person had the exterior repaired.
As a result of a new raid in 2004, the flooring and carpets were removed, and some historical artifacts were lost.
Its wall, which was damaged during Ramadan in 2005, was repaired and its courtyard was paved with stones in 2006.
In 2014, a comprehensive restoration was carried out by the Üsküdar Municipality, and the mosque was reopened for worship.
Prominent features
It is also known as the “Istavroz Mosque” and the “Bostancıbaşı Abdullah Ağa Mosque”.
It has a single minaret and a single balcony.
There is a primary school next to it.
The minbar and the preacher’s pulpit are made of wood; there is a women’s gallery.
The courtyard wall and landscaping of the mosque have been repaired at various periods and have survived to this day.
