Changes after its construction
  • The wooden minaret of the mosque was demolished in 1970.
  • Due to increasing needs, a new mosque was built on an area of 350 m² adjacent to the mosque and opened for worship in 1999. This additional section is a reinforced concrete structure with shops on the lower floors.
  • Ãmer Efendi wooden mansion and outbuildings within the large land were demolished over time, and new streets and buildings were opened around it.
Prominent features
  • The first structure is made of stacked stone and has a wooden roof; it is a simple masjid with four windows.
  • Its minbar is also wooden; the wooden minaret, which was used until 1970, was demolished on that date.
  • In the courtyard, entered through the door opening onto “Bodrumi Cami Street”, opposite the mosque entrance, stands the marble sarcophagus of its founder, Ömer Lütfi Efendi. There are cylindrical head and foot columns on the stone sarcophagus.
  • The newly built mosque has a single minaret and a single balcony.
  • The inscriptions in the courtyard show that the building was built by Bodrumi Ömer Lütfi Efendi in 1891. The inscriptions include Arabic and Turkish verses.
  • The old mosque and the annex are used together, and while the old building maintains its historical masjid character, it serves the increased congregation capacity with theannex.
