- Changes after its construction:
  • The minbar was placed by Mehmet Agha, one of the Solakbaşıs*.
  • It was repaired and revived by the Monuments Association between 1952 and 1953.
- Prominent Features:
  • The building, also known as Çadırcı Mosque, is made of stone and has an upper storey.
  • The brick minaret has a single balcony.
  • There is a basement underneath. Its qibla was corrected from the inside because it was made incorrectly. Its graveyard is adjacent to the left side of the mosque and overflows into the qibla direction.
  • The building is not a perfect rectangle and the right side, especially in relation to the entrance, is crooked.
  • The top of the mosque is covered with tiles.
  • Having been in disrepair since 1928, it was repaired in 1952–53.

 

 

*Solakbaşıs are special imperial soldiers who escorted the Sultan while on horse. In order not to turn their backs to Sultan they were trained to use their left hands, hence the word “Solak”, meaning left-handed in Turkish.
