Over time, the original building burned down and became a wasteland.
It was rebuilt as a wooden domed structure by the Minister of the Navy Hasan Hüsnü Pasha in 1882.
It was repaired in 1950; and in 1972 it was rebuilt in reinforced concrete, in an octagonal form, and brought to its current form.
Today, there is a new plaque above the entrance gate that reads, “Hasan Pasha, who built this blessed mosque for the sake of Allah, is the governor of the state, Sahai-Ihsan.”
Opposite it is a fountain dating back to 1588.
- Prominent features
Exterior: The walls facing the street are made of mosaic plaster.
Minaret: It has a single balcony, is made of stone, and its cone is covered with lead.
The interior wall skirts are covered with marble.
Window arrangement: There are 2 windows on each wall; the lower windows are square, and the upper part of the upper windows are oval.
Its mihrab is made of marble, its minbar and pulpit are made of wood and have historical value.
There is an arrangement in the mosque where there is a women’s gallery.
