Between 1957-1958, the wooden partition of the last congregation place was removed and converted into masonry.
The mosque was demolished in 2017 after a storm in the region, but with construction work starting in 2019, it was opened for worship in 2023.
Although various maintenance works were carried out at different periods in the past, the mosque lost its former glory and waited for repairs for a long time.
- Prominent features of the mosque
The mosque, ordered by Midilli Ali Reis in 1593, was built of masonry and has a tiled roof and a squat brick minaret.
The mosque has a square plan. The connection of the wooden ceiling to the wall in the interior is made in the Baghdadi technique. A blind window shape behind the mihrab on the qibla wall draws attention.
The windows of the main space in the mosque are positioned high, the facade windows of the congregation area are round arched, and the side windows are small and flat.
The mosque has a very bright interior due to its many windows and two-story structure.
The wooden pulpit of the mosque is painted and has openwork railings and a pavilion section.
The last congregation place with Maltese stone flooring was initially in a wooden partition, but it was converted into masonry in 1957-1958.
The mosque has a spiritual value with a Sacred Relic (A strand of beard of the Prophet Muhammad) preserved inside and is offered to visitors on special occasions.
