It was revived in its current form by Sheikh Ataullah Effendi in 1874 after the Great Beyoğlu Fire.
The interior and minaret were repaired in 1953, 1982 and 1992.
In 1992, its minaret was demolished and rebuilt.

Şahkulu Mosque is a simple structure in terms of architecture and is located among the surrounding buildings.
The mosque, built on a total land of 240 m², has masonry walls and a wooden roof. Its single-balcony minaret is located on the right side of the mosque.
In the courtyard of the mosque, there is a tomb belonging to the imam of the mosque, Şahkulu Mehmet Effendi. The tomb bears the date 1770.
