  • Teşvikiye Mosque is a structure whose foundations were first laid with the aiming stones built during the reign of Sultan Selim III to encourage the development of the region, and was built as a mosque in its current form during the reign of Sultan Abdulmejid.
  • The Teşvikiye district, from which the mosque takes its name, was planned by Sultan Abdulmejid to encourage the settlement and development of the region.
  • On the front facade of the mosque are aiming stones belonging to Sultan Mahmud II and Sultan Abdulmejid. These are symbolic stones that mark the aiming places used by the sultans in archery and hunting ceremonies.
  • Bringing together Neo-Classical and Ottoman architectural elements, the mosque reflects the eclectic architectural style of the period.
  • The mosque, which has simple and elegant interior decorations, allows natural light to spread into the interior with its large windows.
