The verse “İnne’s-salâte kânet ale’l-mu’minîne kitaben mevkuta” (“Surely prayer is an obligation prescribed for believers at certain times.” Surah an-Nisa, 103) written in the calligraphy of Kazasker Mustafa İzzet Efendi above its door shows that the building was renovated in 1866.
The hadith “Es-selatu imadu’d-din” (“Prayer is the pillar of religion.”) on the other door on the right side of the mosque documents that the building underwent another repair in 1902.
According to sources, when the plaster of the mosque was removed for repairs in 1968, its old walls made of small, roughly hewn stones were revealed.

The minaret has an onion-shaped cone and a bay-windowed balcony.
The tomb of Imam Ali Efendi, the founder of the mosque, is located approximately 40 meters away, behind the building that used to be the Cevat Paşa Library and is currently used as the Prime Ministry Archives warehouse. There is a Mawlawi sheikh’s cone on the headstone.
