Changes After Construction

  1. The patron of the building was Abdurrahman, son of Çelebi Abdullah, who served as Ruznameci during the reign of Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent, the official responsible for recording the palace’s income and expenses.

  2. Its pulpit was renewed in 1756–1757 by Mahmud Ağa, the Janissary Agha of the period.

  3. In 1896, it was rebuilt by Serasker Rıza Pasha, the Chief of the General Staff, and lost the architectural characteristics associated with Mimar Sinan.

  4. The building fell into ruin during the Balkan Wars and the First World War. It was later repaired in 1933 under the leadership of the benefactress Süeda Hanım, with the assistance of Mahir Bey and Abdülkadir Bey, and was reopened for worship.
