Changes After Construction
It suffered two fires in 1539 and 1653.
It was severely damaged in the 1892 Istanbul earthquake and remained in ruins for a long time.
It was reopened for worship after undergoing extensive restoration in the 1990s; its minaret was renewed during the restoration.
Featured Highlights
A stone and brick structure supported by two arches on a rectangular plan, it is covered with a single dome surrounded by an iron hoop. The entrance door is reached by stairs.

The founder of the mosque Ahi Çelebi was a Turkish physician who served as chief physician during the reigns of Bayezid II and Selim I. His father was the famous physician Mevlana Kemal, and Ahi Çelebi learned medicine mostly from him. He died in Cairo while returning from the pilgrimage when he was over ninety years old. He was buried near the grave of Imam Shafi'i, the founder of the Shafii school of Islam.
It is also known as Kanlıfırın Mosque and Yemişçiler Mosque.
