Istanbul Governorship Provincial Special Administration
Architect:
Architect Yahya Efendi
Changes After Construction:
The foundations of the building were laid in 1927 by the Istanbul Governorship Provincial Special Administration, and it was completed in 1932 and began educational activities under the name “Üsküdar 40th School.”
From 1932 to the present, no changes have been made to the interior or exterior structure of the building, and it has been preserved in its original form.
As of 2013, the building was taken into restoration, and in 2017, with the completion of the works, it resumed its educational activities.
Prominent Features:
The building is also referred to in the records as Beykoz 40th Primary School.
The building, whose construction technique is reinforced concrete, has a symmetrical plan scheme and is three storeys high.
Built with broad eaves, the building has an entrance arrangement with a projecting entrance staircase and a single-flight stair design.
On the façade, there is a rectangular window arrangement, and above the entrance there is a triple-window composition within a depressed arch.
Based on the inscription bearing the letters M.Y on the building, it is thought that the architect of the building was Architect Yahya Efendi. However, records officially state that Republican period schools were designed by Ernst Egli, who was the architect of the Ministry of Education at that time.
