Akşemsettin Primary School
Changes After Construction:
- It was commissioned by Süleyman Sami Bey, the Governor of Istanbul at the time.
- The building, reflecting the characteristics of Ottoman architecture, underwent extensive restoration in 2004.
Prominent Features:
- The school, which began its educational activities as Karagümrük 27th Primary School, currently operates under the name Akşemsettin Primary School.
- The exterior façade is covered with tile decorations and features a bay window arrangement characteristic of Ottoman architecture.
- Süleyman Sami Kepenek, known as the governor who initiated school establishment in Istanbul, served between 1924 and 1927.
- Among the school’s alumni is the renowned artist Türkan Şoray.
