Changes After Construction
The church was consecrated and opened for worship on April 9, 1861.
The building suffered major destruction and looting during the events of September 6–7, 1955.
The church was fully restored and reopened on May 21, 1999.
The Aya Konstantin Greek School building adjacent to the church was renovated in 2012 and converted into a guesthouse.

The church is dedicated to the Byzantine Emperor Constantine and his mother Helena.
It is in the form of a domed, cross-plincipled basilica and has two characteristic bell towers.
It is identified as the second oldest church in the Beyoğlu (Stavrodromi) area.
May 21 is commemorated as the feast day of Saints Constantine and Helena, to whom the church is dedicated.
