Changes After Construction
Although the exact date of the church’s first construction is not known, its presence in the lists of Metropolitan Trypon dated 1583 and Metropolitan Paterakis dated 1604 suggests that the foundations of the structure may go back to the Byzantine period.
The church burned down in 1782 and was later rebuilt.
On 21 January 1830, during the time of Patriarch Konstantinos, it underwent restoration and acquired its present form.
