  1. According to its inscription, the church was renewed from top to bottom in 1821.

Featured Highlights

  • The church belongs to the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Istanbul.

  • The structure is also referred to in the sources as “Hagios Georgios.”

  • It is recorded among the Greek Orthodox churches in Üsküdar as “Kuzguncuk Hagios Georgios (1821).”

  • In the windows, alongside rectangular openings with flat lintels, there are also round-arched openings; on the eastern side, a semi-arched window arrangement is seen.

  • The bell tower is located at the northeastern corner of the structure and is adjacent to the church.

  • In the iconographic arrangement are icons of Mary and the Child Jesus, Jesus, Hagios Georgios, and Prophet Elijah.

  • On the side of the pulpit facing the central nave are depictions of the Evangelists.
