Changes After Construction
Built by the state as part of the education initiative during the reign of Sultan Abdul Hamid II, for the education of children in the region.
The building’s design was prepared by architects working at the Ministry of Education.
The building, which fell into disrepair towards the end of the 20th century, was restored by Tuzla Municipality in 2018.
Today, it is used by the Federation of Manav Turkish Associations for their association activities.
Featured Highlights
It was known as the “Stone School” among the people because it was built with cut and rubble stone masonry.
It embodies the simple and functional characteristics of 19th-century Ottoman civil architecture.
Aydınlı, where the school is located, was a village under the Üsküdar Mutasarrifate during the Ottoman period and the early years of the Republic.
Necip Fazıl Kısakürek, a master of Turkish literature, attended primary school at this school during the period when his father served as the chief judge of the high criminal court in Gebze.
