The school was commissioned by Darüssaade Agha Hafız Behram Agha between 1883 and 1884 on a plot of 1,000 square metres.
At the time of its opening, it began its educational life under the name Mekteb-i İbtidâî-i Behramî (Behramiye Primary School) as a coeducational school with 60 girls and boys.
After the death of Hafız Behram Agha in 1892, who had no heir, Sultan Abdulhamid II registered the school building and its plot in his own name.
Prominent Features:
The school, which took the name Behramağa Primary School in 1997, is the first Turkish school built in Bakırköy.
Its massing and plan scale correspond to the “few-classroom, compact school” type seen in the primary schools of the period.
Among the teachers of the school was the well-known writer and member of parliament Ahmet Rasim, and the renowned director Nuri Bilge Ceylan is also among its graduates.
