Changes After Construction
The present synagogue building was constructed in 1945.
The building took on its present form in 1980.
The institutional official opening under the name Bet Avraam took place during the occupation years of Istanbul, in 1919.
Featured Highlights
The synagogue is a place of worship located behind Sirkeci Railway Station.
The synagogue came to be known as “Bet Avraam” in honor of Avram Geron, who made its establishment possible.
The building has been described as having a “boutique” scale of approximately 120 square meters.
The synagogue has hosted Bar Mitzvah ceremonies and weddings in the past.
Since 1989, the Lag BaOmer ceremony has been celebrated in this synagogue.
Despite the gradual dispersal of the neighborhood population, the synagogue has remained open for worship with the support of Jewish tradesmen whose workplaces are located in Sirkeci.
