Featured Highlights

  • The building is also known as “Kal de Abaşo” and “Kehilla Santral.”

  • The marble inscription above the entrance gate on İcadiye Avenue contains quotations from the Torah.

  • From the courtyard entered directly from the street, the women’s gallery (azara) is reached through the first door on the right.

  • The masonry building is covered with a hipped roof sloping in four directions.

  • Together with the L-shaped azara, the synagogue has a capacity of approximately 260 people; the octagonal dome in the main hall is described as being decorated with scenes inspired by the Torah.

  • Of the two midrash buildings that once stood in the garden, one continues to serve for worship; the other has been converted into a reception hall.

  • The Bet Yaakov and Bet Nissim synagogues operate on a rotating basis.
