- Changes the building has undergone since its construction

During the restoration carried out by Ekrem Hakkı Ayverdi in 1935, the main dome was rebuilt of reinforced concrete.
The narthex was rebuilt by the Foundations Administration in 1965.
It has recently undergone extensive restoration by the Directorate General of Foundations.

It is supported by a central dome resting on four pillars and two side half domes.
Its large courtyard is covered with 24 domes on marble columns and in the middle is a fountain from the period of Murad IV.
The Sultan’s Lodge and the Muezzin’s Lodge have remarkable marble workmanship.
The mihrab has eight rows of stalactites and is decorated with carved Rumi decorations.
Of its two minarets, the one on the right is a rare example of the Seljuk-Ottoman transitional style in Istanbul.
