Featured Highlights
The building is also known as Şeyh Selim Sufi Lodge.
The Sufi Lodge is the Fatih/Ayvansaray branch of the group of three Sufi lodges bearing the name of Emir Buhari (d. 922/1516) and playing a role in the early spread of the Naqshbandiyya in Istanbul.
The building is located on top of the vaulted substructures belonging to the Palace Complex of Blachernae (Vlaherna).
The masjid-semahana arrangement was treated within the plan of a masjid; the building was described as a wooden mass rising above the Blachernae vaults.
It was recorded that the Sufi Lodge and the masjid stood within the same courtyard, that a graveyard lay between them, and that there were many graves in the courtyard.
