The structure was used as a boys’ middle school under the name Mirgün Mekteb-i Rüştiye-i Zükûru; after 1934, it continued its education as a primary school.
In 1965, it was closed with the approval of the governor’s office due to the risk of collapse, and was temporarily moved to another school building.
Following a minor repair, the structure began to be used as a primary school again in 1971.
As of the 1997-1998 academic year, the school’s name became Emirgân Primary School.
During the renovation/restoration process in the 2013-2014 period, education was temporarily maintained in different buildings; with the completion of the restoration in May 2014, the structure was put back into use.

The structure is also known by the names Mirgün Mekteb-i Rüştiye-i Zükûru, Emirgân Nümûne School, Princess Fatma Nümûne School, and 29th Mixed Primary School.
The structure consists of three floors, including the basement; its exterior walls are made of stone and brick, and it was constructed using a wooden building technique.
It is stated that there is a water cistern within the structure.
There is information indicating that there are six shops beneath the garden of the structure and that the ownership belongs to the Special Provincial Administration.
The school parcel area is given as 1,173 m², the building footprint as 562 m², and the garden area as 611 m².
In the sources, the years the structure entered service are recorded as 1870 and 1873.
