Ethem Baba is one of the important Sufis who was with Akşemseddin during the conquest of Istanbul. He is known as Şeyhoğlu Edhem Baba.
Although some sources mention him as the grandson of Hacı Bayram-ı Veli, this information is not certain; however, it is known that he was a dervish belonging to the Bayrami order and that he wrote hymns.
His literary side is as strong as his mystical side. He is known for his hymns, which are simple and powerful in language. The hymn below is one of his well-known works: “In the assembly of Muhammad / The saints gathered / He presented a glass to hand / of Hacı Bayram, full”

The tomb is large, built of cut stone and has a wooden roof.
There is a large window on the street-facing facade.
It has no inscription.
There are three wooden coffins inside the tomb. The first one belongs to Ethem Baba. The second one belongs to Abdullah Efendi, the imam of Arpacı Hayreddin Mosque. The third one belongs to Abdurrahman Efendi, the imam of Eyüp Sultan Mosque.
An old Bayrami lodge, where Friday services were held, was also found next to the tomb.
The tomb is still visited today with its simple and modest structure.
