  • According to the inscription above the entrance door of the naos, the church was opened for worship in 1894.
  • The church building was registered as a second-degree urban conservation site on May 12, 1979.
  • The bell in one of the two bell towers on either side of the building was stolen in 2005.
Prominent Features:
  • The church belongs to the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Istanbul.
  • The building is also known as the “Panayia Evangelistria Church.”
  • The Theotokos Holy Spring is located immediately beside the church entrance.
  • The naos has a closed Greek cross plan scheme; the dome is the defining element of the design.
  • The building displays an eclectic character with Neo-Gothic influences.
