Changes After Construction:
The structure was repaired in 1726.
Under the decree dated 1730, it entered a process of repair and reconstruction.
It was rebuilt from the foundations on 13 September 1836.
It underwent repairs in 1991.
It was taken into restoration by the General Directorate of Foundations and was revived again.
Prominent Features:
The church belongs to the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Istanbul.
The structure is also known as Ayios Yeoryios Church and Hızır İlyas Church.
The origin of the church goes back to the Eastern Roman period; its existence is known with certainty after the 9th century.
The structure was moved from its former location to its present site during the construction of the Mihrimah Sultan Complex.
