Abdurrahman Efendi

Abdurrahman Efendi, whose date of birth could not be determined, was the son of Hacı Murad Sine, one of the notables of Yakova. Yakova is today known as Gjakova within the borders of Kosovo and was an important Balkan settlement attached to the İpek sanjak in the Ottoman period.

Abdurrahman Efendi was among the provisioning contractors for the Asâkir-i Şâhâne. Asâkir-i Şâhâne was a term used for Ottoman military units, while provisioning contractors were civilian suppliers responsible for meeting the army’s needs for food, grain and provisions.

Abdurrahman Efendi died on Thursday, 29 Shawwal 1317 (2 March 1900), and was buried in the Fatih Mosque Cemetery.
