Alallah El-Yemani
Profile summary

Highlights
Es-Seyyid Abdullah bin Hüseyin, whose date of birth has not been identified, was a Hasenî sayyid associated with the city of San‘a in Yemen. The nisba “Hasenî” refers to families descended from Hasan, the grandson of the Prophet. The Zaydi imamate tradition in Yemen was also shaped for centuries largely around these sayyid families.
Abdullah Efendi’s genealogical record connects him with the circle of Yemeni imams who bore the title “al-Mutawakkil ‘alâllah.” The Zaydi imams of Yemen were members of dynastic families who held not only religious but also political authority, and San‘a and northern Yemen were among the most important centres of this tradition. Abdullah Efendi is one of the striking figures in the Fatih Mosque Cemetery who represents the memory of the sayyid and imam families centred on Yemen and San‘a.
The Zaydi presence in Yemen acquired a political character at the end of the ninth century with the arrival in Yemen of Yahyâ b. Hüseyin, a descendant of Hasan. In later centuries it continued through imam families around San‘a and Sa‘da.
Seyyid Abdullah bin Hüseyin died on 20 Jumada al-awwal 1333, corresponding to 4 April 1915, and was buried in the Fatih Mosque Cemetery.
