Ayşe Nihal Hanım was the elder sister of Nahid Sırrı Örik, one of the important writers of Republican Turkish literature. In Nahid Sırrı Örik’s family memories, the loss of his sister Ayşe Nihal Hanım, who married at an early age and died shortly afterward, appears as one of the family sorrows that left a mark on his childhood and youth.
Ayşe Nihal Hanım married Osman Nuri Bey, but only a month and a half after her marriage she fell seriously ill and died young. The elegy on her gravestone reflects the deep grief she left on her family and close circle.

Epitaph
Visitor! Ayşe Nihal Hanım, daughter of Sırrı Bey, Director General of Taxes, buried here, and wife of Osman Nuri Bey, could not recover from the incurable illness that seized her and, while still a young sapling in the garden of delicacy and grace, went to the garden of Paradise a month and a half after her marriage. The death of this young lady, who was of fine character, generous, compassionate, and in every respect possessed of refinement and honor, would justify tears of blood until the Day of Resurrection. May her abode be Paradise and may she attain the intercession of the Prophet. Gladden her soul with a Fatiha. Do not forget that "Every soul shall taste death." (Ankabut 57) 2 April 1913.
A Fatiha for his/her soul
