Ayşe Sıddıka Hanım

Ayşe Sıddıka Hanım, whose date of birth has not been identified, was the wife of Hacı Kâmil Efendi, former inspector general of the Customs Administration.

The Rüsûmât Emaneti was the Ottoman customs administration established in 1861 in place of the Istanbul Commodities Customs Office. The collection of taxes on imported and exported goods, customs procedures and customs security along the border and coastal lines fell within the field of this institution.

Hacı Kâmil Efendi’s office as inspector general places him among the high officials of the supervisory level of the customs organization.

No detailed information has been identified about Ayşe Sıddıka Hanım’s own life. She died on 1 Dhu al-Qa‘da 1322, corresponding to 7 January 1905, and was buried in the Fatih Mosque Cemetery.
