Bekir Sıdki Efendi

Bekir Sıdkı Efendi, whose exact date of birth is unknown, was born in Trabzon.

In the salname records dated 1312 (1894), he appears in the staff of the Ministry of Imperial Pious Foundations as “Bekir Sıdkı Efendi, Director of the Expenditures Administration.”

Evkaf-ı Hümâyun was the institution responsible for the administration of pious foundations in the Ottoman Empire. The Masarifat Administration was the financial unit dealing with expenditures made from foundation revenues and with expense records. In Ottoman finance, masarifat registers were kept to record expenses such as officials’ salaries and various administrative expenditures.

Bekir Sıdkı Efendi, who is also mentioned in his inscription with the title Hafiz, died on 23 Rajab 1313 (9 January 1896) and was buried in the Fatih Mosque Cemetery.
