Emine İsmet Hanım

Emine İsmet Hanım, whose date of birth has not been identified, was the mother of Seyyid Mehmed Râif Bey, who served in the late Ottoman finance bureaucracy.

Mehmed Râif Bey was a member of the Dîvân-ı Muhasebât. This institution was responsible for auditing state revenues and expenditures and forms the institutional basis of the Court of Accounts in the Republican period. Râif Bey appears in the 1892 organization as first examiner in the First Chamber and in the 1897 organization as chief examiner in the Second Chamber.

Emine İsmet Hanım died on 25 Dhu al-Hijja 1323, corresponding to 20 February 1906, and was buried in the Fatih Mosque Cemetery. Her grave and that of her son Mehmed Râif Bey stand together within the same family memory in the Fatih Cemetery.
