Emine Vesime Hanım

Emine Vesime Hanım, who must have been born in 1866 according to her age at death, was the granddaughter of Nakîbüleşraf Hasan Tahsin Bey and the daughter of Mahmud Bey, former governor of Hakkâri sanjak.

Hasan Tahsin Bey was appointed nakîbüleşraf on 15 January 1848 and also held high ilmiye posts such as membership in the Meclis-i Vâlâ, Minister of Orphans’ Property, Rumelian kazasker and reisülulemâ. Nakîbüleşraf was the title of the high office concerned with the records and affairs of sayyids and sharifs descended from the Prophet in the Ottoman Empire.

Emine Vesime Hanım’s father Mahmud Bey was one of the Ottoman provincial administrators who served as governor of Hakkâri sanjak.

Emine Vesime Hanım died on 6 Safar 1321 / 21 April 1319 in the Rumi calendar (4 May 1903), at only 37 years of age, and was buried in the Fatih Mosque Cemetery.
