Fehmi Bey

Luvzâde Fehmi Bey, born in 1848, was one of the military figures who rose to the rank of miralay in the Ottoman army. Miralay was a rank in the late Ottoman and early Republican military organization corresponding to colonel today.

The family name Luvzâde, appearing on his gravestone as a family nisba, is a rare family name also encountered in sources with the spelling Levzâde. In Ottoman records from the last quarter of the 19th century, the name Levzâde appears within the sanjaks of Canik and Amasya.

Luvzâde Fehmi Bey, about whose life sufficient information is not available in the archives, died in 1921 and was buried in the Fatih Mosque Cemetery.
