Hatice Güzide Rüştü Zorlu

Hatice Güzide Rüştü Zorlu was born in 1299 in the Hijri calendar, corresponding to 1883, and was the wife of İbrahim Rüştü Paşa, one of the mirlivas of the Abdülhamid II period. İbrahim Rüştü Paşa was a military figure known for his role in the Aqaba affair and was among the aides-de-camp of Sultan Abdülhamid II.

Hatice Güzide Hanım’s youngest son Fatin Rüştü Zorlu studied law and political sciences in Europe after Galatasaray High School. In the Republican period he served as diplomat, ambassador, permanent representative to NATO, Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and was executed after the military coup of 27 May 1960.

Hatice Güzide Rüştü Zorlu died on 25 January 1978 and was buried in the Fatih Mosque Cemetery.
